Cycling

Beckenham Place Park is easily accessible by bike from across south-east London and much of the local borough. A number of quiet roads and off-road cycle routes lead directly to or through the park.

Bike racks are available in the following areas:

  • By the lake
  • In the Homestead courtyard
  • Outside the Mansion

By Bus

Several bus routes stop close to the park’s entrances:

Route 54

  • Highland Croft stop – near Braeside Gate (5-minute walk to the Mansion)
  • Beckenham Hill stop – by Southend Lodge Gate (5–10-minute walk up the driveway)

Routes 208, 320, 181, 136

  • Stop on Bromley Road near the Green Man – around a 10-minute walk to Southend Lodge Gate or Old Bromley Road entrance (closest to the BMX track)

Route 354

  • Stops at Ravensbourne Station (for southern/eastern park entrances)
  • Also stops at Foxgrove Road (near Beckenham Place Park gate)

Beckenham Junction

  • Multiple bus routes serve this station, which is around a 10–15-minute walk to the park

 

Paying for Parking

Parking operates daily from 8am to 5pm with charges based on CO2 emissions. It’s a cashless system, and you can pay via website, mobile app, or phone.

Park Opening Hours

  • The park is open to pedestrians at all times.
  • Vehicle gates open by 8am and close at 9:30pm daily.

By Train

Beckenham Place Park is very well connected by rail, with several stations just a short walk from the park. Frequent services run from Central London, South London, Bromley and Kent, making it quick and easy to reach.

🚉 Nearest Stations

Beckenham Hill

  • Line: Thameslink – London Blackfriars ↔ Sevenoaks
  • Walking time: Less than 5 minutes
  • Located directly next to the Southend Lodge entrance — the closest and most convenient station for most visitors.

Ravensbourne

  • Line: Thameslink – same line as Beckenham Hill
  • Walking time: 3–5 minutes
  • Borders the northern edge of the park, ideal for accessing the woodland and lake areas.

Beckenham Junction

  • Lines: Southeastern (London Victoria / London Bridge), Tram link (Croydon / Wimbledon)
  • Walking time: 12–15 minutes via the Beckenham Place Park gate
  • Alternatively, catch the 54 bus from the station to Highland Croft to reduce walking time.

New Beckenham

  • Line: Southeastern – London Charing Cross / Cannon Street
  • Walking time: 10–12 minutes

Lower Sydenham

  • Line: Southeastern – London Bridge / Lewisham / Hayes
  • Walking time: 12–15 minutes

🚆 Top tip: Trains from Central London to Beckenham Hill or Ravensbourne typically take 25–35 minutes, making Beckenham Place Park an easy day trip.

Parking

There is a pay-and-display car park accessible via Beckenham Hill Road.

Facilities include:

  • 108 parking spaces
  • 6 disabled bays for valid Blue Badge holders
  • 4 electric vehicle charging points (currently out of service)

🚫 Parking on double yellow lines is not allowed at any time.

🚫 Parking directly outside the Mansion is only permitted by prior arrangement for Mansion-related events.

Please also be aware of local parking restrictions on Beckenham Hill Road and in nearby streets. If parking in the area, be respectful of local residents.
